Lesson: The Books of Allah
We believe in Allah’s books
Believing in Allah’s books is part of what every Muslim believes. It is one of the things our faith — our Iman — is built on.
Allah tells us that the believers believe in Allah, and in His angels, and in His books, and in His messengers (Qur’an 2:285).
Allah sent books before
Allah is so kind that He did not leave people without guidance. To many prophets, He gave books and pages to teach their people.
Allah gave the Zabur to Prophet Dawud (Qur’an 17:55). He sent down the Tawrah and later the Injeel to guide people in their time (Qur’an 3:3). Each one came from Allah to lead people to the truth.
The Qur’an — Allah’s final book
After all those books, Allah sent His last and greatest book: the Qur’an. He gave it to the final prophet, Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.
Allah says about the Qur’an that it is the Book “about which there is no doubt” — a guidance for those who are careful to obey Allah (Qur’an 2:2). It tells us about Allah, about right and wrong, and about how to live.
The Qur’an is protected
The Qur’an is special in another way. Allah promised to guard it Himself, so not one word of it will ever be lost or changed.
Allah says: it is We who sent down the Reminder, and We will surely guard it (Qur’an 15:9). That is why the Qur’an today is exactly the same as when it was first given.
Because it is Allah’s own message to us, we keep it clean, read it, and try to follow what it says. Alhamdulillah for the Qur’an.
